Ingredients:
- 1 yellow onion thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter divided
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 12 Kings Hawaiian Rolls
- 1 cup Bookbinder's Shelf Stable Prepared Horseradish
- 12 slices of Horseradish cheddar cheese
- 12 slices of roast beef deli meat
- 1/4 tsp oregano dried
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet over medium-low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Add the onion, brown sugar, and salt. Stir and cook until the onions soften, about 5 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
- In a baking dish, place the bottom halves of the rolls.
- Lay 6 slices of cheese evenly over the rolls.
- Place 1 slice of roast beef on each roll, folding it to fit if needed.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cooked onions onto each slice of roast beef.
- Spread Bookbinder's Shelf Stable Prepared Horseradish over the onions.
- Layer the remaining 6 slices of cheese on top of the roast beef and onions.
- Place the tops of the rolls over the cheese.
- Melt the remaining butter and brush it over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle with oregano.
- Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and everything is heated through.
* Recipe Notes - You can use Bookbinder's Creamy Horseradish Sauce instead for a smoother finish. If you're having trouble finding horseradish cheese (try the deli counter), you can use regular cheddar cheese.
